Become an Assessor
ABSA currently has Accreditation for Assessors conducting Building
Thermal Performance Assessments with 1st Generation software (NatHERS,
BERS, FirstRate), and is offering Accreditation to new Assessors for the use of 2nd
Generation software (AccuRate, BERS Pro, FirstRate v5) in States where it is approved
for use. All Assessors will be moving to using the new 2nd Generation tools
as Australia nationally transitions away from the use of 1st Generation tools in 2007.
ABSA Assessors examine house plans and identify the home's potential to be thermally
efficient and minimise energy use for heating and cooling throughout its design and
construction.
The ABSA Accreditation Scheme provides a Quality Assured system and Assessor support
network under which Assessors carry out ratings. This Scheme has been designed
to meet both the requirements of Regulators, and Certifiers Nationally and
has been federally endorsed . ABSA Accreditation is mandatory in order to undertake
these assessments in NSW.
